In 2016, a Norwegian design studio created a lighter, more modern suitcase that was designed by Danish designer Sven Björklund and designed to make carrying around light, yet heavy, items as simple as possible.
“We wanted to create something that could fit all of our needs while still offering great comfort,” Björkslund told Business Insider.
The Hard Case was an instant hit and has since become the go-to for many travelers, with more than 70,000 orders in just two months.
The designers are now launching a new line of hard cases with new designs that include an all-metal design, which is lighter and more durable, and a leather-lined version that is lighter, but still has a soft, comfortable feel.
“This is a great way to showcase our Scandinavian craftsmanship and make a statement that our bags are more than just fashion pieces,” Bjorklund said.
“A hard case is not just a bag for the outdoors but an everyday carry-on.
This is what we want to give back to our customers.”
Björcklund and his team of designers have also launched a limited edition Hard Case 3, a lighter version of the original that will retail for $6,500, with a 3-liter capacity and a top-loading backpack that features a zipper closure.
The new models are also available in black and white, and have been designed by the Danish designer and will be available in May of next year.
The brand has been expanding into new markets since Björkeds original hard cases were first introduced in 2016.
In addition to the Hard Case series, the company has launched a line of luxury accessories, such as a bag designed by Italian designer Stefano Diamanti, and the hard-carrying case of the same name.
“These are some of the most luxurious bags ever made, and they are now available in the U.S. and Europe, including in our first ever luxury bag,” Bjorgstad said.
The company also launched the Hard Carry series of luggage last year, and has recently expanded into accessories, including a bag that has a mesh bag liner and an internal zippered compartment.
“The Hard Carry brand is not only the only brand to offer bags with a zippable compartment, but it is also one of the few that has managed to deliver the premium quality and comfort you expect from a premium brand,” Bjørnstad said in a statement.
